Avery Rush, Editor in Chief
Avery Rush is currently a senior. She has moved eight different times throughout the course of her life, all while staying in the Portland area.
Aside from The Falconer, she is also involved with Student Council for which she is serving as Senior Class President. She has played golf at La Salle since she was a freshman and although she isn’t very skilled at it, she really enjoys it.
Avery loves to read and is a particularly large fan of the author Taylor Jenkins Reid. This year, she started La Salle’s new Book Club, alongside the librarian, Ms. Poteet. Reading is something she uses to escape when she is stressed, and it is how she stays busy during the summer. Other activities that Avery enjoys during the summer are water sports such as wake surfing and wakeboarding.
If Avery could travel anywhere in the world, she would go to Amsterdam to visit The Anne Frank Haus. She would also travel to Puglia, Italy, to eat her favorite pasta noodle, orecchiette, which originated there.
Something that Avery enjoys doing on the weekends is listening to music. Some of her favorite artists include Fiona Apple, Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, and Taylor Swift. Music is also her favorite thing to write about as a journalist. Exploring how artists portray their own experiences with mental illness is an aspect of music she is particularly interested in. She also loves spending time with her two pets — a cat, Stella, and a dog, Rocky. She is a self-titled “foodie” and her favorite thing to do with her friends is go out to eat at restaurants around Portland.
In the future, Avery hopes to graduate from college and possibly complete a Master's Degree. She is planning on majoring in communications studies and she wants to minor in political science or psychology.
