Voter’s Guide: 2026–2027 Student Body Presidential Candidates
La Salle’s student body, excluding seniors, will flock to the gym for an annual occurrence on Friday, April 17: voting for next year’s Co-Student Body Presidents.
The six candidates, juniors Arsema Abraha, Jacob Broudy, Milo Davidson, Katie Liu, Jack London, and Heremela Solomon, will deliver their speeches during Flex Time before students cast their ballots. The winners — one male and one female — will be announced shortly thereafter.
The Co-Presidents lead the Executive Council and serve as the primary liaison between school administration, the Executive Council, and the student body. They work to make sure all council initiatives match La Salle’s mission and lead to a more engaged and inclusive community, according to the election information packet provided by Director of Community and Student Leadership Mr. Quinn Peoples.
The rest of the Executive Council members — the Officer of Philanthropy & Service, Officer of Faith & Ministry, Officer of Inclusion, Officer of Spirit, Officer of Athletics, Officer of Arts, Officer of Communication, Club Commissioner, and Cafe Commissioner — will be selected and announced the following week, Monday, April 20 through Friday, April 24.
The Falconer asked each co-presidential candidate to send a brief statement about themselves and why they think they are suited for the role. The responses below are published as submitted, with minor grammatical edits. Abraha did not submit a statement.
“Leadership has been a big part of my life since coming to La Salle. First applying for the leadership scholarship and then trying to be in the class every year, it has been a big part of my Lasallian life. I am qualified for this position because of being in the class for two years, serving as Co-Officer of Spirit this year, and attending the Lasallian Leadership Conference two summers in a row.
I have learned a lot since being in leadership, and especially being on the executive council. I understand the guideline to give future leadership students a path for success to make new events and continue making the past events better each year. Also, I want to listen to the whole student body’s opinions on events and what themes and spirit days they want to see.
Finally, my goal for being Co-President is to give each student the best high school experience by planning more community events, lunch activities, and making people’s ideas come to life. To summarize, I want the Lasallian community to grow tighter together and be one big family.”
“Hi, I am Milo. My goal is to make the La Salle community a better place. I am really hoping to bring the different classes together and make La Salle feel more like a family. I want to make school a place people are excited to go everyday — no matter who they are — and bring people together. I want to do this by providing more opportunities for different classes to spend time together and encourage school spirit.
I am involved with my church, and I have experience running my own car detailing business. Another thing that is really important to me is faith, and I want to talk about it more at school. I think faith discussions are really important, but I want to make it a place where everyone feels comfortable and respected. Another hope of mine is to bring off-campus lunch for juniors and seniors on one lunch days.
I remember when I was an eighth grader and a freshman, and one memorable part of La Salle specifically was how kind the upperclassmen were to me. I don’t see as much of that anymore, and I think part of that is there isn’t as much time for the classes to spend together. I also want assemblies to have more school spirit. I thought the assembly where students and teachers played basketball was really cool because it felt like a time where the community came together. I am hoping to not just have things like this be twice a year events, but something we can look forward to often.”
“My name is Katie Liu, and I am running to be your Co-Student Body President. I want to help make your school life an environment where you feel heard, included, and excited to be involved. I care deeply about building a stronger sense of community by making sure student leadership truly reflects the voices of the entire student body and improving school life.
The first goal I have in this position is to help strengthen student life. Have you ever had to rush to the lunch line just to avoid the big crowd? As your Co-Student Body President, I hope to work with the administration to look into practical fixes I can make. Even small changes could make lunch less stressful and give students more time to actually eat. Another student life goal I hope to achieve as your Co-Student Body President is to add stationary charging stations in the main hallway so your iPad isn’t dead by lunchtime.
I can’t be a good leader without you — that is why student voice and feedback is so important to me. As Co-Student Body President, I will create an anonymous box that you can freely write suggestions and comments in that I will check every monday before school to have a fresh new idea of what you want from me.
You vote; I act. If elected, I will lead with inclusion, school spirit, and dedication to you to make your school environment a place where you feel heard, included, and excited to be involved. I am a leader who not only listens, but also follows through.”
“Hello! My name is Jack London, and I am running for Co-Student Body President. I am a junior here involved in the basketball team, Ambassador Program, Keeping the Faith Club, Chess Club, and more! If you are wondering who to vote for, I hope this guide can give you more of an idea of who I am and what I stand for.
Experience:
– I helped start a leadership program at my middle school where we worked to put on assemblies, run fundraisers, plan school dances, and propose and institute changes for our community.
– I’ve received scholarships for my leadership abilities and dedication to my community from organizations such as La Salle and the Bald Faced Truth Foundation.
– Above all, I am a student just like you. I will do my best to empathize and keep my peers in mind as decisions arise.
Goals:
– I’ll be honest; I do not yet have any specific goals for if I were to become Co-President. However, something I would do is work to improve the school by asking both students and teachers what they think should be done. Whether it be online surveys, questionnaires, or face-to-face conversations, I genuinely want to be here for my school, learn, and serve them to the best of my ability.
As you are considering who to vote for, I would say there are really no bad options — my classmates running with me are accomplished people and leaders. But if I were to have to give one reason why I’d be the best fit, I would have to say it is my genuine care and empathy for those around me. I truly believe I care for you guys — my family and community — more than anyone I know, and I am willing to serve regardless of the outcome. :)”
“My goals for the position of Co-Student Body President are to represent the community in a positive light. I want students to feel represented and valued by their leader through their seen efforts and attributes that will bring strength to the community. I believe that the leader should be a friend and a communicator to all which I think I am.
I want to be an open book, and I want others to talk to me about what they want to see, different spirit weeks they want to have, or issues they believe are stopping them from experiencing the same supportive community I have had throughout high school.
Throughout my time at La Salle, I have had a number of leadership opportunities such as Black Student Union leader, a leader of a club, leader in theater, an ambassador, and a member of executive council as the Officer of Inclusion. These roles have taught me the importance of a supportive community and a leader that cares for the success of the students which I value.
I want the students to feel that I am the leader they should vote for because I value their personal opinion and I think I carry the initiative and compassion of a leader.”
