Annual St. La Salle Day Talent Show Spotlights Student Musicians

La Salle’s annual St. La Salle Day talent show was on Friday, May 29. The event took place in the gym and featured musical performances from students, including punk and grunge covers and a DJ-based act.

The talent show, which kicked off the St. La Salle Day festivities, began around 9:30 a.m. and lasted for about an hour.

Jasper Trehearne, Assistant Editor
Sophomore Jasper Trehearne has lived in, and loved, Portland for his whole life. He enjoys the cold weather and the great community. At La Salle, Jasper’s favorite class is Honors English II, partially because of his teacher, Mr. Greg Larson, and partially because of his lifelong love for writing. Other than The Falconer, Jasper is a member of the speech and debate team, which he went to the state tournament for, the school band, and is starting a disc golf club with a friend. His life outside of school consists of playing too much guitar, dogsitting for his neighbors, and baking, which is something he has always loved but has only gotten really into recently. Something he also loves is traveling. He enjoys seeing the beautiful sights of different places and learning about their history. His favorite places he’s been to thus far are Japan and Costa Rica. After La Salle, he wants to go to college, potentially at Dartmouth due to his legacy status and desire to live somewhere cold. He doesn’t know exactly what he wants to major in, but it would ideally be something related to his dream career of being a lawyer.
Emmett Strackany
Emmett Strackany, Assistant Editor
Emmett Strackany, junior, is a proper Portlander. Born and raised on the same three blocks all his life. He loves all seasons here, but his favorite is probably fall. After previously attending Franciscan Montessori Earth School (FMES) for middle school, Emmett came to La Salle with many others from his class. He adored FMES and it had a profound and continuous impact on his life outlook.  At La Salle he greatly enjoys Journalism and it is by far his favorite class. In addition to general writing, Emmett enjoys reading and consuming news articles or listening to the morning news on the radio. Emmett plans to spend a full eight semesters in Journalism, and will be one of the first to do so if he is successful.  Emmett’s hobbies include playing the piano, rock climbing, and of course, writing.  For his college life, he plans to major in Journalism and minor in Theology, then hopefully join the Portland Police Bureau with his sights set on Detective.
