La Salle held a memorial service for senior Luke Wardwell on Saturday, May 2, in the gym from 3 to 5:15 p.m.
Wardwell, who passed away on Tuesday, March 31, was known for his kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit.
The service began with opening remarks, scripture readings, and prayer from Pastor Vergil Brown. Wardwell’s mother then spoke, followed by a performance from musician Quincy Robinson. Several speakers — including students, staff, parents, co-workers, and family members — shared remembrances, highlighting memories of Wardwell and the impact he had on their lives.
Robinson then led attendees in singing “Blessed Be Your Name.” Afterward, Wardwell’s father delivered the eulogy, which was followed by a video compilation featuring music and photos of Wardwell throughout his life.
The memorial service concluded with a homily and prayer of thanksgiving from Pastor Brown, who spoke about the story of Lazarus and Jesus’ experiences with grief. The service was followed by a reception held in the courtyard, where condolences could be offered to the Wardwell family.
