As warmer weather approaches, there’s never been a better time to treat yourself to ice cream. These three ice cream shops are within 15 minutes from La Salle and are great options when searching for a sweet treat.
Three Falconer staff members tried the following ice cream shops: Baskin-Robbins, Luna’s Ice Cream, and Neighborhood Creamery. We bought, tried, and rated a variety of flavors at each shop.
We started with Neighborhood Creamery, located around 15 minutes away from La Salle. Each ice cream scoop ranged from $3.39 to $6.99. In addition to ice cream scoops, they serve coffee, smoothies, milkshakes, and sundaes. The flavors of ice cream we decided to try were Lemon Bar, Tropical Rainbow, Peanut Butter Cup, and Oregon Hazelnut Fudge.
When walking into Neighborhood Creamery, you are greeted with quiet background music and an open layout of two-seater tables. If you want to enjoy your sweet treat in the sun, there are a few benches outside as well. The atmosphere gives off a homey feel with many plants and an aesthetic chalkboard showing the handwritten menu. Neighborhood Creamery offered additional items such as graphic T-shirts, pints of ice cream, and ice cream cakes.
The kid’s scoops were quite small, and for us, it wasn’t enough — we wanted more. The customer service was exceptional, and we received our ice cream fairly quickly. We appreciated the variety of quality flavors and toppings. Overall, we gave Neighborhood Creamery a 8/10.
The next place we visited was Luna’s Ice Cream. The kid’s scoops were huge, so we ended up only getting three flavors: Lemon Poppyseed Blueberry Swirl, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Bourbon Butter Pecan. Luna’s Ice Cream had many gluten-free and vegan options. They also had ice cream treats for dogs.
Being a short drive of 10 minutes from La Salle, Luna’s Ice Cream provides an aesthetic ambience with its unique decorations and positive energy. The colors are bright and the outside makes the entrance feel inviting. Inside, the seating was quite spacious and it didn’t feel cramped at all.
The employees were exceptionally patient and friendly as we were deciding what to order. What stood out to us the most was the fact that the ice cream was handmade. It made us very appreciative of the work that is done to make delicious ice cream. All in all, we agreed that Luna’s Ice Cream deserves a 9/10.
Lastly, we tried Baskin-Robbin’s. We got three flavors again: Love Potion, Pistachio Chocolate Bar, and Cotton Candy. Baskin-Robbin’s is great for convenience because it’s close to La Salle. The scoops range from $4.49 for a kids scoop to $8.29 for a large. They also offer cakes, milkshakes, floats, and specialty sundaes.
Our experience at Baskin-Robbin’s was extremely welcoming due to the staff being on top of things and offering to help right away. They were kind in responding to our questions and when we embarrassingly forgot to pay after getting our ice cream they confidently and kindly reminded us. Seating was limited, and the chairs were geared towards younger children. However, the drive from La Salle is convenient seeing how it’s only ten minutes away.
The kitschy color scheme brought back a sense of childhood nostalgia and made the setting more inviting. The way the menu was displayed caught our attention because it was laid out with eye-catching pictures. However, it felt like there was a lot being thrown at us and it appeared a little complicated at first. In the end, the flavors didn’t blow us away compared to Luna’s and Neighborhood Creamery, and we decided to give Baskin-Robbin’s a 6.5/10.
So if you’re looking for ice cream on a sunny day, be sure to check out any of these ice cream shops near La Salle. Check out the video for more.

Yummy! I can’t wait to try the two shops that are not a chain and will be new to me! Thank you for the excellent and thorough reviews.
