The La Salle boys baseball team played their opening game of the season at home on Wednesday, March 18 at 4:30 p.m against the Clackamas Cavaliers, ultimately losing with a final score of 8-3.
The Falcons got off to a strong start, leading 3-0 after the first inning courtesy of a 2-run triple from senior Roscoe Mithoefer, who then scored himself on the following play. However, strong pitching from the Cavaliers kept the Falcons’ offense at bay for the remainder of the game.
Clackamas scored all eight of their runs through five innings, adding none after La Salle’s introduction of sophomore pitcher Santino Cianni midway through the fifth.
La Salle’s next game is away against Oregon City High School on Friday, March 20 at 5 p.m. They will then travel to Arizona to compete in the Coach Bob Invitational over spring break.
