The La Salle swim team took on Putnam High School at North Clackamas Aquatic Park for their senior night, with both the boys and girls teams joining together for a dual meet on Friday, Jan. 30.

To kick off the penultimate meet of the season, La Salle’s six seniors performed their “Last Dive,” dressing up in pirate garb and completing a celebratory swim, with the announcers and crowd cheering them on.

The Falcon’s final meet of the season will be on Friday, Feb. 6, at the North Clackamas Aquatic Park with the Falcons facing off against Milwaukie High School & Academy of the Arts.

This year, senior Vince Faris was one of two seniors on the La Salle varsity boys basketball team, which taught him a lot about setting an example. “I think it’s how you lead rather than how many people are leading,” he said.

Emmett Strackany, junior, is a proper Portlander. Born and raised on the same three blocks all his life. He loves all seasons here, but his favorite is probably fall. After previously attending Franciscan Montessori Earth School (FMES) for middle school, Emmett came to La Salle with many others from his class. He adored FMES and it had a profound and continuous impact on his life outlook.  At La Salle he greatly enjoys Journalism and it is by far his favorite class. In addition to general writing, Emmett enjoys reading and consuming news articles or listening to the morning news on the radio. Emmett plans to spend a full eight semesters in Journalism, and will be one of the first to do so if he is successful.  Emmett’s hobbies include playing the piano, rock climbing, and of course, writing.  For his college life, he plans to major in Journalism and minor in Theology, then hopefully join the Portland Police Bureau with his sights set on Detective.

Senior Audrey Waters lives in Milwaukie, only a short commute away from La Salle. With an unexpected change in her plans for high school she ended up at La Salle, after receiving a recommendation from a family friend.  She attended Hosford Middle School, where she was in a Chinese Immersion program. This year her favorite classes include AP Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Lasallian Ministry. Audrey also hopes to work in the medical field in the future, since it has always fascinated her. She enjoys photography, video editing, and listening to music. She listens to basically every genre, as it all depends on her mood.
