As the temperature starts to drop and the leaves cease to fall, the holiday season begins to commence, bringing in seasonal delights all around.
Most notably for La Salle students, Dutch Bros., Starbucks, and Black Rock Coffee Bar are some popular shops to make a stop before and after school. With the Christmas season kicking off, these places each introduce their annual holiday menus.
These exclusive menus offer a variety of treats, from coffee to energy drinks and food. After visiting each place, the most noteworthy items were purchased and rated by The Falconer staff.
Here are our thoughts:
Black Rock Coffee Bar
While Black Rock had the smallest selection of options in comparison to Dutch Bros and Starbucks, the beverage options had range, consisting of drinks like the iced White Chocolate Milano Breve, the iced Peppermint Bark Blondie, and the Tangerine, Pomegranate, and Strawberry Fuel, which were the drinks we tasted.
Averaged from individual ratings of each drink, our overall rating of Black Rock’s seasonal menu was 9/10, the highest of the three.
Dutch Bros.
Dutch Bros. offered a slightly larger variety of choices than Black Rock, with some extra additions to the drinks as well. The ones we sampled included the iced Holiday Cookie Latte, the iced Hazelnut Truffle Mocha, and the Mistletoe Rebel.
Collectively, we felt the beverages here didn’t quite match the quality of Black Rock, but they came very close, earning this place a rating of 8/10 in total.
Starbucks
As for Starbucks, the exclusive menu here proved to have the most to choose from. Some of the drinks included a Peppermint Mocha, iced Sugar Cookie Latte, and an iced Gingerbread Chai, which were the drinks we tasted.
While this stop proved to be our least favorite of the three, we especially enjoyed the fact that Starbucks had various food items on the menu rather than just drinks. Some of the food items we tasted included a Cinnamon Pull-Apart and a Cranberry Bliss Bar, both of which effectively capture the holiday spirit.
As for the score itself, we rate it a 6.5/10, for the diversity in choices and fun flavor options.
After giving each of these places a try, we collectively agree that each of these stops have a wide range of choices fit for anyone’s preference. While our pick for a before or after school holiday beverage would be Black Rock, any of the places we visited are worth a try.
