The Falcons started their 5A state championship run facing the highly-ranked Caldera High School Wolfpack.

Caldera finished the regular season with a record of 18-7 and were the number one seed. Throughout the season, Caldera was led by senior Will Jensen, who was a dominant force down low for the Wolfpack. 

Heading into playoffs, the Falcons had 17 wins and 8 losses, with a couple of games against teams in the 5A Intermountain conference, which is where Caldera plays. The La Salle team had faced Summit and Ridgeview High School, with them suffering a close loss to Ridgeview High School and having a solid win against Summit High School with a final score of 62-51.

The game started out well for the Falcons, where they found themselves up 10-4 with a little more than two minutes left in the first quarter. La Salle entered the half with an ecstatic finish, with senior Vance Sheffield throwing up a half court heave that went in, giving them a 28-16 lead.

In the second half, the Falcons continued to grow their lead, which was ignited by the never-ending defense that La Salle kept up for both of the final two quarters.

The game ended with a triumphant lead by the Falcons, where they pulled off a great upset against the number one seed. The final score was 53-31, with Paul Skoro leading all players with 18 points, quickly followed by fellow Lasallian Riggy Khyungra with 16 points.

This game would be a tipping point for how the rest of the playoffs would go for the boys basketball team, and would lead them to find success in the rest of the 5A boys basketball playoffs.

Eli Batcheller is currently a junior. Eli lived in Oregon City for around 16 years, until moving to Oak Grove in the summer after his Freshman year.  His favorite part of all of his classes are his friends around him that he has been able to make. One of the most important things he finds is the community at La Salle in all aspects.  He originally chose to go to La Salle because of his older sister, and because of the quality of education compared to public school. When he got to La Salle, he found more than he expected, finding great friends and a good community that he could immerse himself in.  Eli loves listening to music and talking and spending time with his friends — some of his favorite activities being going to the river or getting clothes, especially with friends. His favorite artist is Frank Ocean, someone he has always loved.

Junior Cash Korvola moved to Oregon from Montana when he was young, and he feels that has led to his love of traveling. For most of his life, Cash attended public schools, including Llewellyn Elementary and Sellwood Middle School. However, he decided to change it up a bit for high school by going to La Salle, driven by his eagerness for better academics, athletics, and a stronger community. While at La Salle, Cash has especially appreciated guitar and math classes, and enjoys going to many of the sporting events La Salle offers year-round. On the weekends, Cash is a comfortable guy, with lots of time spent on the couch watching football or soccer games, along with hanging out with his friends. Cash is a big Oregon Ducks football fan, and you might not want to be around him during game time because he is very passionate. In the future, Cash is looking to go to a college out of state, and is interested in majoring in sports business.
