On the evening of Wednesday, April 12, a number of students in the Journalism and Advanced Journalism classes gathered in the La Salle library to be officially inducted into the Quill and Scroll International Honorary Society for High School Journalists.

The evening’s inductees included sophomore Rita Tran, juniors Brooks Coleman, Cadence Wooden, Clara Hudson, John Pham, Josephine Robinson, Lucy Loeb, Mackenzie Torres, and Sofia Gonzalez, and seniors Ashley Hawkins, Lucas Pinaire, Maddie Burns, Maya Raphael, Ruby Batcheller, and Seleste Maldonado-Ruiz. Senior Avery Marks will also be inducted at a later date.

Led by current Quill and Scroll members of the La Salle chapter, journalism teacher and Falconer adviser Mr. Miles Kane, and joined by friends and family, the 15 students were asked to pledge their dedication to upholding the eight guiding principles of Quill and Scroll — truth, learning, leadership, loyalty, initiative, integrity, judgment, and friendship — and were invited to share aloud a highlight from their time with The Falconer or a piece of knowledge they gained along the way.

Along with receiving a certificate of membership and a small golden membership pin, inductees were invited to join together for a group photo and enjoy cupcakes following the brief ceremony.
