On Sunday, Oct. 16, prospective students and families came to the annual Open House, where members of the La Salle community spent the day hosting visitors by inviting them into La Salle’s hallways and giving them a glimpse into Lasallian life.

Director of Admissions Ms. Sherri Keepes said that there were “between 800 and 1,000 people on campus, coming and going.”

When people first arrived at the Open House, they had a combination of students, teachers, and staff greeting them as they walked into the building.

Student ambassadors from La Salle, identified by their blue polo shirts donning the school’s name, led tours around the building, stopping at teacher-run informational stands that gave visitors the opportunity to learn about specific courses at La Salle.

At the end of the tour, visitors were given the chance to stop by the cafeteria and gym to look at different academic and extracurricular options students may participate in while at La Salle. In the gym, coaches, athletes, and leaders of different clubs stood at tables in the cafeteria, with teachers at their designated stands to answer questions and advertise their elective, sport, or club to prospective students.

Throughout the time the school was open to guests, there were three presentations given at different times to separate groups of visiting families. La Salle President Mr. John Huelskamp, although unable to be there in person, pre-recorded a welcoming video for the audience.

Also included in the presentations were speeches from Principal Ms. Alanna O’Brien and senior Catie Tassinari, sharing some insight into life at La Salle.

Ms. Keepes has hosted eight Open Houses since working in the admissions office at La Salle, but mentioned this year she was thankful for the weather having been ideal for the outdoor activities, and expressed her gratitude for the educators, staff, and faculty for doing “an excellent and amazing job,” Ms. Keepes said.
