New Regulations and Ready To Play: The La Salle Football Team Prepares for Their Upcoming Season

On Monday, Feb. 8, the football team had their first official practice on the field. At this point in time, their season was still uncertain.
Two days later, on Feb. 10, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown announced new regulations allowing football teams to participate in full-contact practice and play with safety protocols in place based on the county’s risk level.
“We are pretty excited that we are finally going to have a season,” senior James Menor said. “It is something we’ve been waiting for a long time, especially us seniors.”
Menor said that he likes being a senior on the team.
“Being a senior on the team is so great because we have a nice group of guys who are not just talented, but we just bond so well together,” he said. Menor also has enjoyed seeing “new faces on the team, because I get to pass the torch to them.”
One of his favorite memories is when the football team played in a game against Hood River during his junior year.
“It was a good game because it was their Senior Night and Homecoming and the stands were packed,” said Menor. “They were about to score the game-winning touchdown, but luckily the time ran out.” Menor described that game as “intense,” as they were able to win during the last few minutes of the fourth quarter.
Menor has the mentality that “I will grind until they tell me that I have to hang up [my] cleats for the year,” he said.
