La Salle’s annual Christmas Drive is underway. Every year, La Salle raises donations and gifts for over 30 local families from our neighbor school Lot Whitcomb.

Each Falcon Formation class will support one family and have two elves represent each class. Students should save extra money to donate on December 2 during a special Falcon Formation class. All donations will be given to the elves where they will go shopping for the gifts on the family’s Christmas Wish List.

A reminder for all students: donating is voluntary. However, every little bit helps and goes to a great cause.

This drive not only helps the families of Lot Whitcomb, it also helps the La Salle community. “I think the Christmas Drive is a great idea,” sophomore Zoe Wilber said. “Those kids are in need of help and we are a privileged society here at La Salle and I think it bonds us together as a community.”

La Salle students get to have the opportunity to have a great education. However, the kids who are from Lot Whitcomb may not necessarily end up going to school here, but the Christmas Drive shows La Salle’s commitment to helping out the entire community.

Even though students here may be more fortunate, La Salle is still willing to help. “I know I would feel really terrible if I didn’t get to have Christmas so it’s cool that we can help those who can’t always afford it,” Jasmine Gloden stated. La Salle also helps Lot Whitcomb over the course of the school year through Backpack Buddies.

One of La Salle’s core values is Inclusive Community, and that is demonstrated within this drive. Sophomore Matt Lynch added, “I think it’s great we’re giving back to Lot Whitcomb.”

The Christmas Drive is a great way to be involved in the community. It is also an opportunity for all students and staff to be thankful and give back.
