With fall sports wrapping up, winter sports are just getting started. La Salle offers basketball, swimming, and cheerleading as winter sports. There is also a snowboard team.

All winter practices start on November 17th and competitions begin on December 3rd. Students can sign up online with the registration instruction sheets on the Athletic Notice Board. All online registrations are due on November 14th at 10am.

All students participating in winter sports need to make sure that they have gotten the 2-year physical.

For all snowboarders, packets are in the Main office. Packets are due November 9th. The next snowboard meeting is on November 5th at 6 pm in the library.

Sophomore Kiana Christenson says that snowboarding is her favorite winter sport while she’s not on the soccer field during the fall. “Snowboarding itself is really fun and I love competing and of course winning is great too,” Christenson says. Last year Christenson had a great end to the season in her competitions and is looking forward to starting again.

The La Salle cheerleaders are known for their appearances at the Football games, and also at the basketball games during the winter. Sophomore Grace Davidson, a La Salle cheerleader, is out this season with an injury, but still loved being on the cheer team last year. “I loved the competitions, they’re just so thrilling,” she said.

La Salle’s girls and boys basketball teams excelled last season and went to the State Championship. They both finished in second place.

Last year’s swim team member Grant Gooding, senior, competed in the 100 Breaststroke, and the 200 IM Medley and created a new school record. The boys team finished in second place overall and the girls finished in 3rd.

La Salle has a lot to offer for winter sports, and students should take advantage. There is still time to sign up!
