Four La Salle Fall Sports Teams Make Their Way to State Playoffs

La Salle fall sports are done with league competition, and four of the five teams are ready to go into state playoffs. Volleyball, boys and girls soccer, and cross country have all qualified for a run at a state title.

Volleyball

Volleyball’s season has been superb: having a record of 20-3, the team is heading into the playoffs ranked 1st in the Northwest Oregon Conference and 3rd in state as of right now. Their first playoff game is Saturday at 6:30pm against Dallas in the brick oven.

Boys Soccer

Boys soccer finished out league play 6-2, with an overall record of 8-5. Moving into 5A has not been an easy transition for either of the soccer teams, but the boys have stayed strong by finishing with a great win over Milwaukie on Thursday, October 23rd.

Assistant Coach Seth Altshuler says that he feels optimistic about the game Saturday. “The boys are capable to win this if they put their mind to it,” Altshuler said. “They just need to be consistent and organized.” Their first State Championship play-in game is Saturday, against The Dallas at 11:30am.

Girls Soccer

With their only losses being to Rex Putnam, Hillsboro, and Wilsonville, girls soccer finished 4th in their new league and have kept a consistent 5th place ranking in State. Like the boys soccer team, 5A has been more of a challenge than previous years.

Girls take on Mountain View at La Salle Saturday at 3:30pm. This game will be very competitive, because Mountain View is ranked 11th in state. Co-Captain Kate Christoferson says that even though it is now 5A, and teams are harder, it is nothing that the team can’t handle if they come out the way they know how to play.

Cross Country

Boys and girls cross country have both qualified for a run for the state title. Both boys and girls finished 3rd in the Northwest Oregon Conference, which qualified them for State. With the boys team having won the State Championship last year, both teams are now hoping to finish with an impressive statement in 5A. Their race starts at 1:00pm on Saturday, at Lane Community College in Eugene.
