Meklit Wondwossen is currently a sophomore and has been raised in Portland, Oregon for her entire life. Despite living in Oregon her whole life, she longs to go off to college in California, in an attempt to escape the gloomy weather.
Meklit’s parents decided that La Salle would be a great fit for her. Unconvinced at first, she agreed after watching a La Salle girls basketball game.
Participating in student council for her first year as a freshman has enticed her to join journalism to contribute to La Salle in a new way. Although Meklit finds ways to contribute to her school community, she hopes to broaden her contribution to activities outside of school as well.
In the future, Meklit hopes to be fluent in Amharic and French. Both of her parents were born and raised in Ethiopia, but being born in Oregon has made it difficult for her to speak the language fluently. Meklit is in her second year of French, and she is dedicated to taking the course all four years of high school.
