As many people know, the iconic PDX carpet is soon going to be replaced. The original carpet was well known and loved by citizens of Portland, as well as people who traveled to Oregon.

The beloved carpet was designed to show people the routes of Northwestern culture, which is why the primary colors chosen were green and blue. The specific design was meant to signify the north-south runways.

Although many people are not aware of the reasoning behind this design, citizens fell in love with the creative and original carpet. In addition to the many Instagram shots it inspired, this love caused many companies to create many things inspired by this carpet such as T-shirts, socks, mouse pads, and even door mats.

When people heard about the carpet being replaced they were not happy. However, the carpets are not being changed because they simply went out of style or got old, but instead because it was worn out. Despite the carpet looking very good and being full of creativity, it is also full of stains and rips from its 25 years in use.

Although the design has changed, it does not seem too different. It contains the same color pattern and design for the most part, but instead of having straight lines it flows more. The new carpet is beginning to be installed this month.
