From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, La Salle hosted Open House, an annual event where hundreds of prospective students and parents visit the school and receive tours, look into classrooms, meet teachers, and gather more insight into life at La Salle.
Director of Admissions Kelsey Hui said this year’s Open House was led in part by about 115 members of La Salle’s ambassador program, who filled various roles such as greeting families, providing directions, and representing different sports, clubs, and affinity groups. Additionally, 15 ambassadors helped set up the day before.
Over 820 guests attended the Open House this year, Ms. Hui noted, up from the estimated 675 in 2024.
“Turnout-wise, it’s the biggest year since I’ve been working here,” she said. “So, really exciting.”
As guests entered La Salle, the first thing many of them saw was a sign directing them to the welcome presentation, which was held in the newly-renovated theater. It featured performances from the choir and band, opening remarks from President Mr. John Huelskamp and Principal Ms. Alanna O’Brien, and a panel of students who answered questions about their personal and academic growth at La Salle.
Families also had the option to follow a student tour guide throughout the school or speak to teachers, parents, students, and coaches independently.
In the science wing, different demonstrations took place for guests to watch, while programs like guitar and visual arts were presented at specific locations in the school.
“We had a number of families [give] overall positive feedback,” said senior David Sharyan, who helped plan and coordinate Open House as well as supervise ambassadors between the cafeteria and the library. “It went swimmingly.”
Ms. Hui reacted with similar enthusiasm, saying, “I’m super, super proud of our students and just the whole community who came together to work that event.”
