On Saturday, Feb. 22, students and their guests headed to La Salle for a “New York, New York” themed Winter Formal Dance. Lasting from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., the dance included rainbow pillars, a disco dance floor in the cafeteria, and plenty of loud music.

This dance marks the second time La Salle has hosted Winter Formal since being closed for the COVID-19 pandemic during 2020, which rendered the school unable to host in-person dances. Last year’s Winter Formal theme was “Keep Me Where the Northern Lights Are.”

Emmett Strackany is a sophmore student who was born in Oregon and has lived there his entire life. He loves all seasons here, but his favorite is probably fall. After previously attending Franciscan Montessori Earth School (FMES) for middle school, Emmett came to La Salle with nearly everyone else from his class. He greatly loves FMES and hopes to revisit every chance he gets.  At La Salle he loves Journalism and it is by far his favorite subject. In addition to general writing, Emmett enjoys reading and consuming news articles or listening to the morning news on the radio. Emmett plans to spend a full eight semesters in Journalism, and will be one of the first to do so if he is successful.  Emmett’s hobbies include playing the piano, rock climbing, and of course, writing freely. For his college life, he plans to major in Journalism and minor in Pre-Law, then attend Lewis and Clark Law School as part of his goal to eventually become a legal consultant.
