On Saturday, Nov. 5, after tying Centennial 0-0 in the regular season, No. 3 La Salle boys soccer defeated No. 11 Centennial in the quarterfinal game, earning them a spot in the semifinals.

No. 11 seeded Centennial was up 1-0 at halftime and scored a penalty kick against No. 3 seeded La Salle with 25 minutes left in the second half of the game.

Senior Luke Warner scored the team’s first goal of the night shortly after which, Warner was given two yellow cards which equates to a red card. This meant Warner had to sit out for the remainder of the game and the team was unable to sub in another player for him, leaving La Salle to play one man down for the rest of the game.

The team’s second goal was scored by sophomore Vance Sheffield. The third and final goal of the night was scored by junior Breslin Nichols.

The team will face No. 2 seeded McKay in the semifinals on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. The game will take place at McKay High School in Salem.

If the team fails to appeal Warner’s red card, he will have to sit out the semifinal game, but if the team makes it to the championship game, Warner will be able to play.
