Throughout the campus, artwork is displayed from various classes. La Salle offers many art classes such as Art Foundations, Advanced Art 2D, Advanced Art 3D, and AP Studio Art. Students are introduced to the foundations of visual arts which include painting, printing, mixed media, drawing, and photography.

“I personally really enjoy the visual art being displayed around the school because the artists at La Salle put a lot of time into their work and it’s nice to have it be recognized and enjoyed by other students,” senior Natalie Fuchs said.

AP art students work on creating their portfolio all year long and some pieces are displayed in the hallway. Fuchs expressed that her art peers put a lot of effort and time into their artwork and that it can be hard to maintain motivation throughout the year.

“Hearing feedback from kids around the school and acknowledging the art, even if they just point and say something along the lines of ‘wow that’s really good,’ it’s really gratifying,” Fuchs said. “It helps me realize the hard work I’m putting in does have a cause and I really am getting something out of it.”

Correction: March 10, 2022

A previous version of this article misstated that senior Mary Hanley painted a self-portrait with gouache paint. It has since been updated to accurately reflect that it is a portrait of her sister.

In addition, a previous version did not attribute the correct credit to a few of the pieces, which has now been resolved.

Finally, some of the pieces were described as “mixed media” pieces, which was not always the case. This has been corrected to the accurate media type.
