On Tuesday, Feb. 22, the #12 La Salle girls varsity basketball team competed against #17 Hillsboro at home. La Salle won with a final score of 54-24.

“We really worked together and we’ve proven what we’ve been working on in practice,” senior Mia Skoro said. “We started off a little slow, but we gained momentum early in the second quarter and it stayed with us the rest of the game.”

With only four more games left in the season, championships are approaching. A goal for Skoro this season is to lead her team to another state championship.

It was also Future Falcon Night for the girls basketball team, during which prospective athletes were able to meet the team and participate in various activities. “I went to three or four Future Falcon Nights and I know how much it means to the girls,” said Skoro.

Her advice to Future Falcons is to work hard and have fun. “It goes by really fast,” Skoro said. “I’m already a senior and I’m really going to miss it.”

Recently, Skoro has signed at George Fox University to play basketball. Although the recruiting process can be long and stressful, she recommends students to enjoy the moment.

“There’s only one period of your life where you can make this decision, and it can get stressful — that’s okay,” Skoro said. “There’s a lot of people that want to support you and help you through it. So just take a breath and know in your heart where you wanna go.”

The next game will be an away game on Friday, Feb. 25, against #13 Putnam High School.
