As the seasons begin to change, there’s no better time to find new music that fits the feeling of fall. Together, Staff Reporters Clare Daudelin and Megan Snyder have each put together their top five songs for the season to create a 10-song playlist packed with indie/rock anthems for fall.

Here are Clare’s picks:

“My Lady’s On Fire” – Ty Segall

The tempo of Ty Segall’s catchy tune goes from somber and melancholy to bright and blissful — just like the feeling you get when watching the leaves change to become bright and colorful.

“Amoeba” – Clairo

Another recent release from Clairo’s new album titled “Sling,” this song has catchy bass and a beautiful, euphoric vibe. If you’re looking for music that sounds like what being comfy feels like, this is for you.

“Mayonaise” – The Smashing Pumpkins

A rainy drive to school on a dark fall morning — that’s what this song reminds me of. The powerful guitar, drums, and changing of tempo throughout the song really takes you on a journey as you listen.

“Lola” – The Raincoats

The catchiness of the chorus and the beat of the drums in this song will get you tapping along without even knowing it. The Raincoats’ version of this song, originally by The Kinks, is the perfect post-punk addition to your current music rotation.

“Pretty Pictures” – Indigo De Souza

One of my personal favorites off De Souza’s newest album, titled “Any Shape You Take,” is “Pretty Pictures” which has nostalgic lyrics and features enchanting guitar and bass, making it the perfect indie rock anthem for fall.

Here are Megan’s picks:

Motion Sickness – Phoebe Bridgers

Hearing this song reminds me of cool autumn mornings, and even though it was released in 2017, it is still one of my all-time favorites. Bridgers’ voice is airy and soothing, yet conveys so much emotion through her lyrics.

7PM – Lilacs., Lizzy McAlphine

Catchy and relaxing, this song always puts me in a good mood. With a jazzy feel and mix of groovy bass lines, “7PM” is a perfect addition to almost any fall playlist.

Time I love To Waste – MAY-A

MAY-A is a young Australian artist whose debut album “Don’t Kiss Ur Friends” boosted her into the indie-pop spotlight. Her hit song’s upbeat tune makes it perfect for cruising down the highways.

Meet Me At Our Spot – THE ANXIETY, WILLOW, Tyler Cole

“Meet Me At Our Spot” is a unique and refreshing song that encapsulates the restlessness of youth through its lyrics. In fact, its album “The Anxiety” is a project meant to raise awareness for mental health.

Lovers Rock – TV Girl

The indie-rock song’s joyful yet calming sound is perfect for cozying up and sipping on a hot latte this fall. Pretty violin chords, soft drums, and soothing vocals create a song that you will never get tired of.

The Falconer has created a Spotify playlist featuring all of the songs above.
