“I love collecting stickers and it’s so much fun [getting stickers] from different places I’ve been and different cool things I’ve done. So I wanted to put them on my Hydro [because] that way I can take them with me everywhere.”

“[My favorite sticker is] probably the Portland one, because it has a really cool design on it and it’s like the Portland carpet in the airport and I got it downtown when I was with my friends so it has a cool story behind it.”

“My first Hydro Flask that I got was in seventh grade and [I really wanted to get a Hydro because] everyone in my class had it, and I thought it was a really cool water bottle. I think it’s a pretty cool trend because it’s a good way to show off your personality and show how you’re unique.”

“My favorite sticker is this permission to dream one because it’s from Dutch Bros. and I really like how it’s ombré. I also love my wolf sticker because it’s from [the store] “Made In Oregon.” I also have this “Mod Pizza” sticker from Mod because obviously [you have to have it]. And then I have another Dutch Bros. one because I love Dutch and then a Portland sticker because I’m obviously from Portland. I really want to get a Vans sticker… I’ve seen other people have it and it’s cool because it’s a galaxy [printed] sticker.”

“[Everyone had a Hydro] so that made me want to get one. I love the Hydro Flask trend at La Salle because it’s cool to see everyone’s different stickers so you can kinda tell what their personality is like by the kind of stickers they have.”

“I love stickers and Crocs so I decorated my water bottle with Croc stickers! [My favorite sticker is] definitely my Croc wearing Crocs.”

“I really love stickers and I’ve always loved stickers, and so when I came here I saw that everyone had stickers on their Hydros and I thought, ‘What a great idea.’”

“[My favorite sticker is] definitely my Jeep sticker because I have a Jeep and Jeeps are the best. This gray [Hydro] is really nice because it’s gray so it’s not very colorful, which I like.”

“[I think that the trend of putting stickers on your water bottle] is really cute. If you put stickers on it I think it is unique to use.”

“[Every time] I see someone with stickers on their Hydro it will usually start up a conversation like, ‘Oh you got that one from this place.’”

Olivia wanted a Hydro Flask because, “Number one, I thought that [Hydro Flasks] are really cool. Number two, I love the look of them and number three, it was a practical sort of thing because it’s insulated and it keeps your water cool for a while.”

“Putting stickers on my water bottle makes it personal, my own, and identifiable.”

“[I think that Hydro Flasks are overrated] to a degree. I like them personally because it’s a really good water bottle that you don’t have to worry about condensation or spilling. It’s also really nice because I usually like to drink cold water [and] I can put ice in it [to make it] last all day.”

“[I feel like] it’s kind of a symbol, for a lot of people, to have a Hydro Flask. A lot of people have stickers plastered all over them and their water bottle will usually just sit on their desk and then they won’t drink it at all.”

“I really like [the trend because] I think it’s super creative and a really good idea of how to be diverse. It shows everybody’s uniqueness and how we’re all different people, which I think is really cool. I really like mine because it keeps the water so cold throughout the day which is really, really nice.”

“I have yellow on my water bottle so I think people would think I’m happy. I also have a Dutch Bros. sticker because I love to drink coffee, so I think people would say, ‘Oh she seems super cheery and she drinks coffee!’”

“I kind of [feel like Hydro Flasks are overrated] because it’s just a water bottle and any bottle works perfectly. I’m not sure why everyone has a Hydro. I don’t really care about the dents and scratches on my water bottle like, ‘Look how many I have.’ It just means that you take it places.”

“I put a bunch of surfing stickers on here so a bunch of people could get the sense that I love to surf. I think it’s pretty cool [that the trend of putting stickers on your water bottle became so popular]. It shows other people what they like personally and what they like to do.”

“I love Hydro Flasks. I think they’re cute and they’re the best water bottles just because your water stays cold. But I think that the stickers personalize your water bottle since everyone has a water bottle. It makes yours different, whatever color you get. At La Salle everyone has one so in that sense it’s overrated but I like Hydro Flasks, so I’m going to say they’re stable and a neutral standpoint for me.”

Philicia said her water bottle is a reflection of her personality. “I think they’ll know that it just reflects me and I have all of these stickers that are of my favorite artists and things that I love so I think it would be easy to say, ‘Oh that’s her water bottle!’”

“[I have a water bottle to] drink water and stay healthy. I don’t know [what brand it is] but it’s just a normal water bottle.”

“I think the trend [of putting stickers on your water bottle] is stupid. I think people just do it to fit in and to seem cool that you have a Hydro Flask to put stickers on it. It doesn’t mean anything. [My water bottle] holds water so it’s a good one.”

“I got a really good deal [on my Hydro] so I decided to get it. I don’t want to put any stickers on my water bottle because it’s expensive and if you want to take the stickers off I think it just ruins the Hydro sometimes, so that’s why I don’t like putting stickers on my Hydro.”

“I think people want to fit in and look cool [and that’s why the trend is so popular].”

“I think [Hydro Flasks] are super expensive and kind of a little bit of a waste of money and you could get one at Costco for half the price. I think [the trend of putting stickers on your water bottle] is cool, but sometimes people can judge you being like, ‘I have more stickers than you’ in a little bit of a way. But at the same time [stickers] can tell a story of where you have been, just like you put stickers on a car. It gives it more of a design.”

“I saw [no Hydro Flasks] freshman year but junior and senior year, they blew up.”

“I got my Hydro for free. My husband is sponsored by ‘Next Adventure’ for disc golf and he got a [ton] of them. So every bottle that I have, I haven’t paid for.”

Ms. Coleman talked about how her stickers reflect her adventurous, nerdy personality. “I like fun things and I want [my water bottle] to stand out from others. [I have] national parks stickers, a Schoology sticker which is kind of a ‘teacher thing’, Next Adventure stickers, and also organs because when you drink water, you have to pee. I’ve probably had about 2-3 water bottles stolen at La Salle, so now I put nerdy stickers on it so it points back to me. It makes me sad when anything gets stolen or lost but it makes you think that someone needed it more than I did, so I hope they enjoy it,” she said laughing.
