12 Transfer Students And Their Journeys To La Salle

As La Salle Catholic College Preparatory enters its 50th year as a prestigious high school in the Portland Metro area, it also welcomes 12 new transfer students. They come from all over Oregon, America, and even the globe. A dozen fun, smart, and charming new students have ended up in our midst. Below you will find a little bit of background information about each of these new members of our community, so please be sure to give them a warm welcome the next time you see them.
SOPHOMORES:
Claire Asato
Age: 15
Grade: 10th
Sports: “I play soccer on the JV team and it is going fabulous. I also want to play softball in the spring.”
Why La Salle: “My previous school wasn’t for me, and I have better friends here.”
Locations: “I came from Jesuit High School, and I live in NE Portland.”
Excited about for LS: “Meeting new people and expanding my horizon.”
Hobbies: “I like to play soccer, anything that involves the outdoors, and hanging out with my friends and family.”
One thing about you: “I may come across mean, but I am a very nice person. Also, I’m here to have fun.”
Casey Green
Age: 15
Grade: 10th
Sports: “I play football as a middle linebacker and tight end. I swing from JV to Varsity.”
Why La Salle: “My old school was way too big and I wanted smaller classes.”
Locations: “I came from Clackamas, and I live in Happy Valley.”
Excited about for LS: “The family-like feeling of the school.”
Hobbies: “Sleep, and I play the guitar.”
One thing about you: “I’m pretty much all about football. For college I want to go to U of O or Texas Christian, something like that.”
Danielle Rinz
Age: 15
Grade: 10th
Sports: “Not yet, but I am a swimmer so I want to do that this year.”
Why La Salle: “I have gone to Catholic schools all my life, and my parents wanted me to go to a Catholic high school in the area. This seemed to be the best one.”
Locations: “I’m from Raleigh, North Carolina and went to Cardinal Gibbins High School. I now live in Vancouver, WA.”
Excited about for LS: “I knew almost everyone at my high school because we all came from the same junior high, and then all from the same elementary school. This is the first time I don’t know anyone and I am excited to meet new people.”
Hobbies: “I like to listen to music, and I am a violinist. I am also looking to find a swim team.”
One thing about you: “One thing is that I take a little getting to know. I don’t really open up very easily, but I am not a closed person.”
Elliot Roberts
Age: 15
Grade: 10th
Sports: “I am probably going to join tennis when it is available, but I have a full schedule right now.”
Why La Salle: “I liked that they offered some interesting technology electives.”
Locations: “I came from Northwest Academy, and I live in NE Portland.”
Excited about for LS: “Mostly the electives, and the teachers seemed really nice.”
Hobbies: “I am not proud of it, but I play a lot of video games. And technology things like coding, and building computers.”
One thing about you: “I was born on Christmas.”
Madison York
Age: 15
Grade: 10th
Sports: “I’m on the JV volleyball team, and I really like volleyball.”
Why La Salle:“I came to La Salle for a better education and smaller class sizes.”
Locations: “I transferred from Clackamas, and I live in Clackamas.”
Excited about for LS: “I am excited about meeting new people.”
Hobbies: “I just play a lot of volleyball and I do track. I will be doing track and field in the spring.”
One thing about you: “I hiked Mt. St. Helens.”
JUNIORS:
Donte Brooks
Age: 16
Grade: 11th
Sports: “Football, track”
Why La Salle: “Because I thought I’d do better in football here.”
Locations: “I’m from Parkrose.”
Excited about for LS: “To become smarter.”
Hobbies: “I’m not involved in any hobbies.”
One thing about you: “I do not know.”
Mario Sensat
Age: 17
Grade: 11th
Sports: “I am involved in tennis and soccer.”
Why La Salle: “It was the only school in Oregon that would let me stay.”
Locations: “I came from Barcelona in Spain.”
Excited about for LS: “I am excited to play lots of sports.”
Hobbies: “I like to play sports and go to parties.”
One thing about you: “I am a nice guy.”
Grace Robinson
Age: 17
Grade: 11th
Sports: “No, I’m actually not allowed to be involved in any sports here because I’m not a citizen of America, therefore my guardian is not present.”
Why La Salle: “My cousin goes here.”
Locations: “Princes Hill Secondary College in Melbourne which is in South Australia.”
Excited about for LS: “Probably all of the typical American things, you know? Like all the dances and the football games and everything.”
Hobbies: “Music, reading, drawing, and painting.”
One thing about you: “That I’m nothing to be scared of, I’m pretty chill.”
Dylan Jackson
Age: 16
Grade: 11th
Sports: “No, I’m not involved in any sports.”
Why La Salle: “It has a good education system.”
Locations: “I live in Happy Valley, and I came from Clackamas High School.”
Excited about for LS: “Making new friends.”
Hobbies: “I like to hangout with friends and mess around.”
One thing about you: “I want to be an acrobat.”   Â

Jonah Pemberton
Age: 18
Grade: 12th
Sports: “Golf and Basketball”
Why La Salle: “Because I grew up in private school and my parents like it better, and my coach from my freshman and sophomore year is here.’”
Locations: “Lincoln High School.”
Excited about for LS: “Basketball season and meeting new people.”
Hobbies: “Golf, basketball, and hanging out with friends.”
One thing about you: “I like to chill.”
Lizzy Sheldon
Age: 17
Grade: 12th
Sports: “Varsity soccer and basketball. It’s pretty great.”
Why La Salle: “I wanted a bigger school experience.”
Locations: “I came from Seton Catholic in Vancouver. I live in Camas.”
Excited about for LS: “Meeting new people.”
Hobbies: “I like sports, and outdoorsy things like hiking.”
