La Salle’s boys lacrosse team has had a rocky start with a current record of 3-6. However, they won their last game 14-4 against Forest Grove on April 26th, and are currently ranked 37th in the Oregon High School Lacrosse Association Roster.

The boys have four games left, only one of them at home, as they head towards the end of their season. Despite a challenging season so far, the boys have, instead of admitting defeat, pushed themselves to work harder in their next games.

“Each time we come off a loss, there is a drive to want to win that next game and to practice harder,” Mitch Nemmers, La Salle’s Lacrosse coach, said about their recent losses. “These guys want to win, and are motivated to work harder when we lose.”

However, in the end, winning is not the biggest priority for the team, said Coach Nemmers. “If these guys grow as players and men as a result of the season, and most of all have fun, then we have had a great year.”

The team lost five of their star players this year and therefore “are a very young team, so there will be a lot of growth overall” Nemmers says.

According to Nemmers, the season is looked at as a growing year both for the team and the individuals on the team. Of course the games’ ending scores do not reflect the amount of passion and determination they put into their games. If the team continues to work and practice together, hopefully they can blaze a new path together on a road to a better and more connected team.

“We [had been] struggling with our team chemistry,” Zac Foteff, a starting attackmen for the team, said about their recent losses. “[However,] the team has high hopes for the rest of the season because we are beginning to play more as a team.”

The team includes seniors Nicholas Griffin, Samuel Anderson, Caeleb Marvich, and David Shireman. The juniors are Matthew Cleary, Conor Gwyn, Joseph Hoang, Boone O’Neil, Quinten  Pearson, Tyler Persons, John Stafford, Nicholas Touchette, Nathan Wobig, Jordan Gloden. The sophomores are Adam Dunckel, Zachary Foteff, John Salisbury, Matthew Salisbury, Noah Schlunz, and Allen Casper. The freshmen are Tarn Bregman, Jordon Carnahan, Noah Gorretta, Evan Lee, Ian Pearson, Thomas Presnall, Andrew Shireman, and Jack Hanline.

La Salle and Liberty go head to head at Liberty on April 28th. If you cannot go to an away game, the next home game is against Wilsonville on May 3rd. So come support and cheer on your team by bringing your Falcon pride to the next game.
