For most eighth graders, deciding what high school to attend is a difficult choice. This is why La Salle holds an annual open house.

Last Sunday, many middle school students attended LaSalle to learn about what it means to be a student in our community. There were many things available to see during the visit such as a warm welcome as they walked in, a tour guided by La Salle students, the ability to visit sports and club tables, a chance to meet the teachers, having a look in the classrooms, and even snacks.

The main objective of the open house, according to the La Salle website, is for students to “get a sense of our core values, students, faculty, and vibrant school life. [Students should] partner with La Salle to fully realize your own potential. Visit our campus to see what is so special about our school.”

The sports tables are also a large portion of the open house, taking up the entire gym. Students involved in these sports programs talk to the visitors about the sport and how it is at La Salle in order to show the students that they can become involved in La Salle’s athletics and have a good time doing it.

Although this open house greatly helps students in deciding if they would like to attend La Salle or not, the application process consists of many steps, including the High School Placement Test, which takes place on Dec. 6.
