With all of their games played, the football squad finished off their season with a record of 3-6. The team improved its record from the previous season, after only winning one game in the first year in 5A competition. This season they won three, and had several very close games that were almost wins.

The football team had some notable changes from last season. A new quarterback Nick McCoy, a junior transfer from Reynolds, had a positive impact on the outcome of the season. “Nick is awesome. He’s definitely given our team a new threat [and is a] great player, [and an] even better guy” junior Parker Cardwell said.

On Friday, October 16th, the boys won against league competitor, Sandy High School. It was a great game played by the Falcons, leading to a 42-28 victory.

This win carried momentum to the following week’s game against the Falcons’ rivals, Rex Putnam. Unfortunately the Falcons were unable to win, but finished close behind Putnam, ending with a score of 19-23. It was evident, though, that all of the players fought hard the entire game and were all working together.

In the last game of the season, La Salle had to play the number one team in state, Liberty, in a game that ended 50-14, in the final football game played by La Salle’s seniors. This was the seniors’ last game not only with these coaches, but also with their peers who throughout the season became family. Overall, it is clear that this was a season that showed great growth within the program and that will help the team to improve even more next year.
