Maya is currently a senior at La Salle. She spends a large portion of her time learning about a myriad of social justice issues but takes a particular interest in racial justice, gender and sexuality visibility, and mental health advocacy. She is certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid and safeTALK— educating her about mental health and addiction issues among adolescents.

In the future, she looks forward to majoring in neuroscience or political science with a potential minor in artificial intelligence or sociology. In tandem with her academics and career, she hopes to make a tangible change regarding the pressing social issues she cares about.

In her free time, Maya loves being in nature. She values growing up in the Pacific Northwest because of its scenic beauty and captivating landscapes. In addition, she believes thrifting is her main hobby, for she loves engaging in the creation of her personal style.

Music plays an important role in Maya’s life. She loves reggae and 90s hip hop — most specifically, Bob Marley and A Tribe Called Quest.
