Sophomore Ashley Kamhoot has lived in Oregon, and near the Portland area her whole life, but also resides with her dad in Vancouver, Washington. 

She loves the outdoor opportunities the Pacific NorthWest offers, like whitewater rafting, fishing, hiking, mountain bike riding, snowshoeing, and skiing. She loves to do these activities with her family, which includes her ten year old English lab, Stella. 

Another activity Ashley loves to do is play softball, something she has been doing since she was five years old. It is the only sport that she has stuck to after dropping dance— including jazz, hip hop, contemporary and ballet — basketball, gymnastics and soccer just to name a few. 

She chose to join journalism as a way to get better at writing and learn more about journalism and how it works.
