For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, 14 students on The Falconer staff ventured to Northeast Portland for Spring Media Day — a smaller convention compared to the one which took place in fall, while also focusing on high school student journalism. Hosted by the Oregon Journalism Education Association and University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication, speakers covered topics such as careers after high school, ways of reporting and writing, and more.
A range of sessions took place throughout the day in four intervals. The sessions were presented by various journalism professors, advisors, and professionals, with a 70 minute lunch break in between.
After the fourth session, students traveled back to La Salle and ended the day around the same time the school was dismissed.
