It’s time to get all dressed up and slip on your dancing shoes as La Salle’s fall dance, Homecoming, is happening next week.
Time and Date:
On Friday, Oct. 6, this year’s homecoming dance will take place from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. and is open for all grade levels to attend.
Where:
La Salle’s cafeteria courtyard, cafeteria, and main hall will be turned into Barbieland featuring the Mojo Dojo Casa House for lots of dancing, pictures, and memory making.
Theme:
As October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, junior Rylan De Souza and his leadership team wanted a dance theme to honor it. Since the color in honor of breast cancer is pink, Barbie seemed like the most appropriate theme. This homecoming will “really [play] into the ‘Barbie’ aspect,” De Souza said. “Everything is fully centered on ‘Barbie.’”
There will be decorations all through the main hallway to the cafeteria, featuring a Barbie box for a photo booth, pink lemonade, and snacks. As a big part of the “Barbie” movie was the Mojo Dojo Casa House, it will play a role in the dance as well. There will be country-themed decorations with banners throughout the main hallway capturing this detail.
Tickets:
Tickets were available starting Sept. 20, and can be bought until Oct. 5. One ticket costs $20, and guest passes are available for non-La Salle students. The guest passes are required to be turned into the main office by Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 3:00 p.m.
Starting the festivities off:
To get into the homecoming spirit, next week will feature spirited days based on “Barbie.”
Monday will be a Barbie slumber party where students are encouraged to wear pajamas to school.
Tuesday is Hollywood Barbie. Students are invited to show up to school rocking their best pink carpet looks with full glam and their fanciest outfits.
Wednesday, students should show up in their best western outfits for Mojo Dojo cowboy day.
Thursday is Barbie vs. Ken and students can dress in their favorite Barbie or Ken look. During Flex Time that day, the leadership team will host a homecoming pep assembly. The Homecoming football game will be a home game against Estacada High School. The game will start at 7:00 p.m. and is “Barbie” themed.
Friday there is no school and the dance will be happening that night.
