Reese Nachbur
Freshman Reese Nachbur began his freshman year with a clear objective — to make new friends at La Salle.
On Freshmen Connect Day, Nachbur’s favorite activity was playing a game of pickleball, where he got to meet other students in his class.
However, Nachbur still finds himself missing the social aspect of school, which he is not finding on Zoom. “I miss being able to see people’s faces,” he said.
Nachbur feels there is a lot less social interaction because making conversation online is not as easy as a face-to-face conversation.
“Making real experiences with people is usually the best way to start a conversation, make friendships, and have connections,” Nachbur said. “That’s something I’ve been missing.”
The COVID-19 lockdown has helped Nachbur learn how to better manage his time, particularly with schoolwork. He said he has been able to manage his assignments by completing them in order based on when they are due.
In addition, Nachbur has spent his time in quarantine creating a new board game. He said he was inspired by watching his brother design his own.
If La Salle opts for a hybrid format, Nachbur is looking forward to being able to meet with his band class, where he plays the piano.
Nachbur’s goals for the year are to finish his board game, join or start a club, and start a boys volleyball team.
