With a Strong Start, Boys Basketball Looks Forward to a Successful Season

The basketball season is well underway and La Salle boys basketball team is off to a strong start, going 3-1 in league play, with a 7-4 overall record.

The team practices hard four days a week, with games two days per week, to be prepared to take on their competitors. During practice Ange Toku says that they “do drills that are competitive and worthwhile for what skills and concepts we are trying to learn and use in games.”

Along with their intense practices their team chemistry is a stand out factor that will hopefully help them in the long run.

Matthew Berger says, “Our team chemistry is already high because we’ve been playing together since before the summer started and because we’re already comfortable where we all fit in the bigger picture of our team’s success.” He went on to say that the team chemistry “makes playing with each other fun and as our team chemistry gets better it’ll make playing with each other easier and more rewarding.”

Matthew Berger says, “We expect each player to contribute in one way or another to achieve this goal [of winning the league] which means that we will all hold each other accountable in practices and in games while playing for and with each other. We know that in order to reach our goals, we will have to develop really good chemistry too so we get comfortable with playing with each other.”

Ange Toku says about the tournament they participated in earlier in the season, in which they went 1-2, “We were missing a lot of important guys which gave other people the opportunity to play more and contribute so it was good in that sense.” Overall the tournament did not go as the boys had planned but they all agree that it was good practice for them, and since the tournament, the team has gone 3-1.

Don’t miss their game tonight at Putnam at 7:15 or their game on Friday at Hillsboro, also at 7:15!
