Humans of La Salle: Hopes and Fears for the School Year
September 26, 2016
Summer is always a welcome break, but the new school year has begun and brought new friends, fears, and hopes for 2016 and 2017. This edition of Humans of La Salle takes a look at how people enjoyed their summers and what they’re looking forward to in school this year.
Bryan Hunter, senior
“What am I looking forward to in the school year? I think finding out where I’m going to go to college and kind of just getting that whole application process done, and that’s what I’m looking forward to.”
***
Veronique Poulson, junior
“Yes, I do feel refreshed, it gave me a nice long break to prepare for this school year, and I’m looking forward to drama.”
***
Christian Gomez, junior
“I’m probably looking forward to finishing Honors Algebra 2 with a great grade and skipping pre-Calculus.”
***
Delina Biniam, senior
“I’m not feeling refreshed because of all the English homework I had during the summer, but what I’m excited for this school year since I’m a senior is… going to all the events, all the sporting events and dances, and just basically just having a lot of fun with my senior class for the last time.
***
Mitchell Rask, sophomore
“I am extremely ready for the school year! I’m extremely excited, I cannot wait to lead things on student council… And I’m really excited to meet the incoming freshmen and kind of just becoming closer with my class as we’re growing older and getting more mature.”
***
Rochelle Duarte, sophomore
“I enjoyed working (over the summer) and I’m looking forward to continuing with drama!”

I have a love hate relationship with school. I’m always excited to learn but I’m never excited about grades. I wish it were more stress free so I could focus more on growing as a learner rather than trying to get the best grade possible. Also looking for college and doing school at the same time is the most stressful part! Having the pressure of performing well in school while also trying to show college you are a good student for them is a really draining. However these are struggles everyone goes through so you just gotta put on a smile and push through!
