Chick-fil-A: Is it Really Worth All the Hype?
May 12, 2016
As the long winter months passed, almost every day I would drive by the future site of an American novelty. The wait is over. Chick-fil-A has arrived. The Clackamas restaurant opened April 21st and is only the second version of the franchise to come to Oregon.
So, is it really worth all the hype? Yes, without a doubt. On a recent visit, I got a grilled chicken sandwich with fries and a cookies and cream milkshake. The chicken was good and the lettuce and tomatoes were very fresh. Pro tip: Make sure to get the Chick-fil-A sauce for the fries and your sandwich or chicken nuggets.
Now, let’s take a moment to highlight their incredible waffle fries. They are the easily the best thing thing that they serve. They were perfectly cooked and they are waffle fries. How could you not love waffle fries?
The environment is very welcoming and the customer service is great. When you order your food you get a color coded cone that serves as a flag for the waiters who bring out your food. Be prepared: it’s not quite as fast as good old McDonald’s, but at least you know the food is real.
Chick-fil-A prides themselves on serving fresh white meat chicken in all their sandwiches and chicken nuggets. They run on the model of serving mostly chicken and leaving beef off of their menu. Taking a nontraditional route to American fast food has lead to a wild success. Starting in 1948 with a single restaurant to now having approximately 1,950 restaurants nationwide, it has become a household name. The chain is mainly centered in the south, but has begun to work its way west and north and now into Oregon and Washington.
I would give Chick-fil-A a solid 8 stars out of 10 because of their great food and great service. The only drawback I would like to mention is that it is a little spendy compared to other fast food, but other than that it is a great quick eat.

I disagree. I do not believe it is worth all the hype. When I was younger, I used to live in Texas where they are all over the place and are no big deal, and honestly I do not think they are as big a deal as people are making them out to be. I like Chick-Fil-A, but it is just another fast food place, just one that focuses on chicken. They are currently overcharging customers and taking advantage of the huge deal that people are making over them, and I have heard rumors that they are expanding soon. I think in a few months to a year, people will step back and realize this. Sure the waffle fries are amazing, but it is just a hype for now, and soon will be about as popular as any old fast food franchise. The only one worth the hype surrounding it is In-N-Out

I’d love to see Chick-fil-A expand across Portland. It’s a great alternative to Burgerville as far as “farm-to-table” fast food goes! Although a bit pricey compared to other fast food chains, it really doesn’t compare in quality.
