Student of the Week: Hannah Sisul
April 6, 2016
There is no doubt about it: Hannah Sisul is a sophomore who stands out. She is active and successful in many areas of the La Salle community, and as a result has been chosen as the Falconer’s newest Student of the Week. She is a member of both the varsity softball team and the varsity girls basketball team, while also maintaining an impressive 4.17 GPA with a rigorous academic schedule.
As only a sophomore, she is in AP Calculus (a class mostly populated by juniors and seniors). With more than two years remaining at La Salle, Hannah is aiming to continue to have a positive impact here in both academics and athletics. To find out more, we asked Hannah a few questions:
How do you balance two varsity sports and a demanding academic schedule?
- “I try to get all my homework done right when I get home from either sports practices or school and try and get it out of the way and then I work on future projects and assignments so that I can get them out of the way.”
What is your GPA and what are some of your classes?
- “My GPA is 4.17 and I am in AP Calculus AB, Honors Spanish 3, and Honors Biology.”
What are your career goals and what colleges are you interested in?
- “My goal is to be a doctor and I am interested in Stanford and Oregon State.”
What do you do in your free time to relax?
- “I like to be outside and hang out with my friends as much as I can.”
What motivates you to work hard and push yourself in school?
- “I have always wanted to go to Stanford, and I know that it is a very hard school to get into, and it has really strong academics. I want to work hard now so that I am prepared down the road.”
Who is your favorite teacher?
- “My favorite teacher is Mr. Swanson, because I feel like I can always go talk to him for help and he prepares us really well for tests and quizzes.”
Now that you are in AP Calculus as a sophomore, what math classes are you going to take junior and senior year?
- “Next year I will take AP Calculus BC and then for my senior year I was talking to my counselor and I might go to Portland State and take the first level math there.”
Nice work, Hannah!

It’s crazy to imagine how she’s able to balance all her AP classes on top of the several sports she participates in, way to go!
