Reflections on My First Half of Senior Year
January 24, 2016
Looking back at the first half of my senior year I have learned many new things, including that senior year is so different than any other year in high school. It is a very fun but challenging year. There are many things that I have stressed about, but also so many things that I enjoyed as well. Since this is the last year of high school, it is truly what you make it. Reflecting on the year so far, these are a few of the things I realized I had to do in order to have a successful first half of my senior year.
Do
1. Homework
Homework is never something fun or easy to finish, especially your senior year when you know there are so many fun things happening just around the corner. But, it is very important to remember that homework can really impact your grade. So finish it and keep your grades up.
2.  Prepare for College
So look, there is one thing you have to worry about senior year, college. Although applying for colleges and scholarships is very time consuming and not one of the funnest things to do, it has to be done. I recommend you do it as early as you can so you can enjoy the rest of the year.
3. Make time for Family
It’s always important to spend time with your family, but during the chaos of senior year you need to remember to never forget about spending time with family. This is a very important year and it’s good to build relationships with your family before you go onto another adventure.
4. Make time for Friends
This year is the last year you will see many people. It’s important to stay close the friends you already have but also make sure to get to know the people you didn’t in the previous years. You want to go out on a positive note and have fun with all your classmates.
Don’t
1. WorryÂ
In high school it’s especially hard to not worry about what others around you think, but this should not stop you from being yourself. Being that senior year is the last year you’ll be with a lot of these people you should do whatever you want without the worry of what others think.
2. StressÂ
This is much easier said than done. During your senior year there will be many things that have to be completed and turned in but there are also so many fun that you should do as well. Don’t stress so much about the future that you don’t have time to enjoy the moment.
3. Be Too Excited to LeaveÂ
Being a senior is so exciting because there are so many new things coming so soon. A lot of times people only think about the new exciting things ahead that they forget to spend time doing fun things in high school.
4. Procrastinate
Becoming a senior is very exciting, but along with this comes senioritis. Senioritis is the feeling you get when you have homework but don’t want to do it because you feel that you’re basically done with high school and already got into college. It’s so hard to not procrastinate when you know there are much better things to do. As long as you get your homework and projects done, it’s okay.
