January 15, 2016
Looking for some new music? Here are 5 music artists that aren’t currently being aired on local radios and deserve to be recognized- go and give them a listen!
- Troye Sivan
This 20 year-old made his start on YouTube and recently came out with his album “Blue Neighborhood”, talking about the small Australian town that he grew up in. His first album called “TRXYE” put his image online last year and helped him get recognized. His cool pop vibes have a good feel and beat to them that many people enjoy. The release of his newest music videos on his VEVO channel gained him a lot of popularity and views.
- Hozier
Of course everyone knows his hit song, “Take me To Church”, however, it might be difficult for most people to name another one of his songs. This singer from Ireland released his album (just plainly titled Hozier) in September of 2014. It is filled with sweet sounding melodies made by his guitar skills and deep voice.
- Melanie Martinez
You may know her from her hit song “Dollhouse” or “Carousel”, the theme song for the hit TV show American Horror Story: Freakshow. Her new album from this year called “Crybaby” is a fresh new idea, as she uses kids’ themes to convey her problems in love and life. Melanie Martinez rose to fame on The Voice and is known for her different sense of style and songs. Her alternative music is lyrically deep and has an eccentric sound to it.
- Jhene Aiko
Jhene Aiko is an upcoming singer and songwriter from California who was a part of her first Billboard Hot 100 song, “Beware” by Big Sean. In 2013 she released her first EP called Sail Out which included familiar songs “The Worst” and “3:16am”. Her sweet sounding voice will fill your ears with slow moving songs with great beats. She performed at the Bumbershoot music festival in Seattle last Summer and was nominated for three Grammy Awards this past February.
- BØRNS
This American singer produces feel-good, psychedelic pop songs and has become popular by his song “Electric Love” on his Dopamine album. Borns has played at many musical festivals and was recently added to the setlist of Coachella 2016, one of the most famous music festivals held in California every summer.
