Lady Falcons Soccer Begins Season 1-2, With Many Key Games Ahead
September 16, 2015
The La Salle girls varsity soccer team defeated Canby last Friday in a 2-1 win. Persevering through a tough game in the 85 degree heat is something that these hard working girls are used to. However, they’re looking to continue to gain more wins after a tough loss against Scappoose last Tuesday and a fight against Valley Catholic this past Tuesday, resulting in a 1-2 season record so far.
Adam Leyland, also known as “Gaff”, is the new coach and is ready to lead his team into victory and is excited for the upcoming season, along with assistant coach Alle Macleod, a La Salle alumni who graduated in 2009.
“With Gaff’s help, we are learning to get more fundamentally sound with the soccer ball, which has improved a lot since last year,” says sophomore Matty Karscay.
The varsity team bonded over the past several weeks and have had fun experiences with each other, including boating, swimming, and sleepovers. “The bonding experiences have been so much fun” sophomore Megan Lyver said. “They have made us a lot more comfortable with each other and we know that we can trust each other on and off the field.”
Their next game is on Thursday at Gresham, and this team is ready to win!
