As part of our Student of the Week feature, one student is profiled  for their outstanding academic achievements and involvement at La Salle.

About Emma: Emma Ly is a sophomore who works hard to maintain her 4.12 GPA. She excels in all of her classes, including Honors Biology, Honors Algebra 2, and Honors English. Outside of academics, Emma plays tennis, participates in Volunteer Club, Women in Science Club, and Community 101.

Volunteer Club: Volunteering has been one of Emma’s passions since she started working at a summer camp last year. Since then, she has started and continues to lead the Volunteer Club here at La Salle. Emma and the 144 members of the club regularly volunteer to work at places like Blanchet House, the Portland Memory Garden, Christ the King and the Oregon Food Bank.

Favorite Subject: Although core classes like math and science have always been some of her main priorities, her favorite subject is English. Vietnamese was her first language so studying English has always been a fascination of hers.

Future Plans: Emma hopes to attend the University of Southern California to study occupational therapy. She wants to have a job that she loves where she can help people recover from injuries and traumatic experiences through therapy.
