Senioritis: How to Deal With It

Senioritis: How to Deal With It

Ian Basile, Staff Reporter

With spring break behind us and May on the way, the end of the school year is approaching very quickly. For many seniors here at La Salle this means that the season of Senioritis is upon us and thriving.

Many seniors are already feeling the desperation to get out of high school and get on with their lives. Some seniors are struggling to stay on top of their school work, while others are doing a great job of staying on task. With that in mind, I present you with five pieces of advice for all seniors that are struggling with Senioritis.

Stay Organized and On Top of Things

Despite there only being two months left, it is still vital for you to stay on top of all your assignments and tests. The last thing you want to do is to be doing a bunch of missing work on Thursday night of dead-week.

When asked about dealing with Senioritis, senior Lauren Danna said, “I make sure all my homework doesn’t pile up and that I get it done”.

Despite how hard it may be to follow, this is good advice from Lauren that all seniors should listen to.

Don’t Let Your GPA Drop Too Low

Everyone says that grades don’t matter second semester senior year. But is that really true? Yes, you are already into college, but if you let your GPA drop too low there can still be consequences. Many colleges say that if you don’t get a certain GPA that they will take scholarship money away, or possibly even rescind your admission.

Another reason to maintain a solid GPA is that your parents will be mad if you slack off a ton and drop your GPA and grades. For your own good, try to keep your GPA respectable so you can have a relaxing end to your senior year.

Make Sure You Make Time For Free Time

Free time is vital during the last few months of senior year. It’s important to relax and have fun. Enjoying these last few months will be easy if you do stuff that you want to do in your free time. Hang out with friends, watch Netflix, eat some good home-cooked meals. Do everything you can that you won’t be able to do in college.

When asked about Senioritis and how he deals with it senior Keaton Kryger said “I don’t. I just let it happen. I think of it like a drug that I am addicted to.” This is a different approach to dealing with Senioritis. Going with the flow and not really thinking about it too much would definitely assure you to enjoy the end of senior year.

Don’t Think About Graduation

The more you think about graduation the longer it’s going to take to get there. If all you think about is June 13, it’s going feel like your waiting for August 13. Just relax. The last few months of senior year are not that difficult to get through. Once you get past AP tests, if you have any, you are home free.

Make the Most Of Your Last Few Months in High School

Instead of looking forward to graduation and rushing to it, try to cherish the time that you have left in high school with your friends that you won’t see much next year. You only have a little less than two months left with the rest of your senior class so why not make it as fun as you can?

Hang out with friends as much as possible and just relax and enjoy your last bit of time in high school. There are still a lot of fun things to look forward to like prom and serving your last few detentions of your life.

In the end, senior year is a time to relax and enjoy the time you have left until you are free from parental control in college. My biggest piece of advice for seniors is to just relax and go with the flow. Don’t rush the end of high school. Enjoy your last few moments with the people and places that you won’t see much after high school.
