As La Salle transitions to 5A, many students have reported that there has been a tremendous increase in school spirit which could be because of the spirit club introduced to La Salle this year.
The creators of the spirit club, seniors Reece Wible and Tori Goodman are excited about this upcoming year and looking forward to the success of our football team and the spirit club. “The spirit club this year is looking to provide an environment that promotes enthusiasm and encouragement for students” said Wible. “This club allows students to come to games and cheer as proud members of Spirit Club. Not to mention it also gets you into the tailgates we throw before home games.”
At the football game against Milwaukee high school on September 5, students reported a dramatic climb in student size and spirit at the games compared to last years games which helped lead to a 32-26 victory over Milwaukee for the Falcons. La Salles football team has been improving and getting better every game. Even if the scores don’t show it, our football program is changing dramatically for the better, many
Something else new this year is that our school has created themes for every football game of the year. These were created by Tori Goodman, assistant manager of the spirit club, and edited by Mrs. Banta so that our community could have the best season yet. Some of these things included a falcon pride themed night, where students wear their La Salle gear to show their school pride and represent the football team. Also, there is things like a camo out where students will wear as much camo as they can to show how much of a community we are and to also show our school spirit. Reece also stated about the spirit club that “Mike Duarte came to me with the idea and I put it into action with the administration. Tori helped with the ideas that provide a foundation for the club. We are mainly focusing on football because it is the in season sport right now.”
As our school strives for the best spirit possible and our football and all athletic players strive for the best seasons possible, La Salle is looking forward to the new change in our community and athletics. As we move up to 5A, we are looking forward to the challenges and new experiences this year will bring.
