Sophomore Kai Kelly has lived in Oregon his whole life, and loves Portland’s foggy weather. He joined La Salle after learning about its tight knit community and academic programs.
Outside of school, Kai plays piano, having started lessons at four years old, and fills silence with musical artists like Radiohead, Weyes Blood, Deftones, and Panchiko.
He has crocheted since sixth grade and creates crochet patterns in his free time. He also sells crocheted things to friends, and recently joined a roller derby team.
He loves spending time with his three pets — his cat Mochi, and two dogs, Porter and Juniper.
Kai has loved math class since kindergarten, when he would often make up simple math problems to do in his head in order to go to bed. Now he’s taking Honors Algebra 2.
This year, he wants to manage his three honors classes and the three clubs he has joined while also staying immersed in his extracurriculars, getting his drivers license, and eventually getting a job. Kai also has a goal to maintain at least a 4.0 GPA.
