The stage was dark, people were anxiously awaiting and the crowd had a loud accelerating roar as the spotlight turned on to show Khalid, standing on a rising platform.

His genuine, warm smile and energetic dance moves filled the humid air with excitement. Hoarse singing voices, screams shouting “I love you,” and happy tears melted down people’s faces all throughout the arena.

Last night, May 1, Khalid kicked off the main portion of his 21-stop “Roxy Tour” at the Moda Center, after an American-Canadian boy band called “PRETTYMUCH,” based in Los Angeles, California opened the evening.

It was a breathtaking and electrifying concert that included strobe lights and four backup dancers alongside Khalid, who was dancing around the stage, passionately running through his hits.

This 20 year old, whose full name is Khalid Robinson, has rocketed to the top of the charts and performed for thousands of fans all over the world since releasing his first album, “American Teen”, just over a year ago.

Last night, Khalid beautifully sang through many songs from this album to a sell-out crowd. He also sang other songs that aren’t included on “American Teen”, such as his new song featuring Travis Scott and 6LACK called “OTW.” These songs, which will be included in an upcoming album, show off a more mature, slow-tempo style than his upbeat hits for which he is mostly known.

Throughout the concert, Khalid was extremely interactive with his fans, and told the crowd about how he took requests at his meet and greet beforehand for what songs he should sing. He also stopped a fight at his concert and said to spread love instead. Ultimately, seeing him perform live was a memorable, inspiring experience, and it’s clear that fans have new styles of sounds to look forward to in his upcoming music.
