XC Takes a Running Start

Cross country is underway with 3 meets under their belt. La Salle’s cross country team placed second in both boys and girls in the NWOC preview meet. Junior varsity placed second in girls and third in boys. Both the varsity and JV teams ran against Wilsonville, Parkrose, Hillsboro, Putnam, Milwaukie, St. Helens, Sandy and Liberty.

The top runner for varsity for girls was Carly Veasy with a time of 22:06.0. “We consider cross country a team sport, we cheer each other on and help one another,” Veasy said. The top time from the boys was Sean Richardson, who ended second overall in the meet with a time of 17.29.3.

The JV girls top runner Nadine Prentice ended first with a time of 25:24.9. The JV boys top runner was Silas Warner with a time of 20:50.7, which earned him a sixth place finish. 

Cross country has an upcoming meet called the Oregon City XC Invitational, taking place Saturday, September 19th. Seventeen schools are going to be in attendance at the meet, including Hillsboro, Wilsonville, Putnam, and Milwaukie from La Salle’s previous meet.
